The word lariat is a derivation of the word lasso; in this style of necklace one beads a long strand, with a large bead and loop at either end of the strand. It can be worn looped through the front, clasped from the back, or wrapped around the wrist. The diversity of this piece is what makes it one of my favorites.

Birthday Jewelry
This past weekend was my friend Christen Accardi's birthday, you may remember her from my wedding jewelry post where I showed the bracelet and necklaces I created for her bridesmaids. For this special occasion, I was inspired by the transition from summer to fall. This custom necklace is made from three types of chain, in shades of bronze and gold, some silver accents, and a large shell bead as the focal point. The mannequin shows the necklace worn short, but its actual length is about 18 inches.
